We are witnessing incredible acts of kindness and selflessness every day. The doctors and nurses helping the ill, and continuing to help the millions who have sickness and injuries not even related to this specific virus. The thousands of retired health professionals who have volunteered their services to aid the hospitals strained in space and resources. Those testing and developing treatments and vaccinations to this and every other disease. The firefighters, police force, and every other kind of public service worker and defender out there. Our service people from the Army, Navy, Air Force and beyond who unable to return home though they may feel torn in half by their obligation to protect our countries from afar and their longing to protect their families from home. In Italy, a lot of the food plants are slowing down production significantly because the workers are worried about going to work, even though these plants are held to an incredibly high sanitation standard. Yet, these food plants staying in production is essential for the general public to continue to have access to food... So I did a really small thing, in the grand scheme of everything. I wrote a song— inspired by the plant employees of my @barilla family continuing to put the public needs ahead of their own needs and fears, but it is a message to everyone. Thank you.

We can’t choose our transitions. But we can choose how we get to the other side. (I haven’t quite figured out what that means, but it sounds nice, so let’s just go with it.) Congratulations to all the Globe winners- despite the end of the season being cut so short, the impressive performances you all had throughout the entire season brought you to this point, and you earned these achievements through and through. Congrats @federicabrignone on the Overall and GS titles, to @petravlhova13 on the Slalom title, and @corinnesuter_official for the speed titles. I do wish I got to stand in the start amongst my competitors and friends again before the season ended. But I feel lucky (in a weird way) because I accomplished what I came here to do. I got this far- took that step...even if it wasn’t out of the *racing* start gate. Made a bunch of good turns over the last few days in the final prep, and I’m grateful for that. Also so very grateful to this World Cup family for this gift honoring my Dad. You are incredible, thank you. With love, Mikaela.

Extremely honored and humbled to receive a @laureussport nomination for Sportswoman of the Year!! It's almost flabbergasting to be at a point in my career of being nominated for such a prestigious award. Thank you.? Shout out to @atomicski for continuing to donate several pairs of skis each year to be auctioned off for the Junior Alpine Scholarship Award, which has been renamed the “Berlack Astle Memorial Fast Skier Award”. This award recognizes accomplishments in all aspects of U16 life. It is intended to provide assistance to USSA U16 athletes who exhibit the personal characteristics required for success, in hopes of defraying the cost associated with participation in the expensive sport of alpine ski racing. Since it’s inception 11 years ago, this award has recognized young alpine ski racers who excel both on and off the hill. Solid character, compassion for others, and community involvement, along with passion and commitment to their sport are the traits they’ve looked for in these young athletes. Ronnie Berlack and Bryce Astle embodied these traits. These skis that @atomicski donated and other awesome items are auctioned on eBay for this fund.
