A week ago , in my field of work , Medicine, a colleague further up in heirarchy lets say, straight up judged me for being in a beauty pageant and how it objectifies women! This wont be the first time I have been questioned about objectifying myself and i'd like to remind every such individual, that we live in a society where, even subconsiously, physical attractiveness is an existing bias at interviews, work place promotions and even the criminal justice system! Are we women going to sit and pretend that we live in an equal society or that objectification and sexualisation of women isnt deep seated into human psyche and modern society? Or are we going to get up and take advantage of this flawed system, as is the RULE in evolution. Do I as an individual, perpetuate exhibitionism or cosmetic enhancements ? No. Do I have a story behind all the make up and filters, of personal growth, achievement and ambition. Hell yes. Do i believe that ,what a woman does with her body, is her own choice ? Yes. Its unfortunate that pageants are still reffered to as "Beauty pageants" because the ladies in it are about so much more. Frankly it blows my mind, how such beautiful women get demeaned for being externally well groomed and presentable and completely ignored for all their other accolades ! Its sad that we live in a society that both shuns objectification of women but at the SAME time negatively discriminates against women who have CHOSEN to have a groomed appearance. Irony is that it is women that are the biggest slanderers of their fellow ladies. No Sally/ Sunita just because I havent succombed to becoming a human bouncy castle doesn't mean that I haven't had my own struggles/ardour or that I've had extra hours to my 24 in a day to groom myself. - Zawsze byłam najlepszą uczennicą w szkole, uwielbiałam się uczyć, a w konkursach biorę udział od trzech lat – opowiada 23-latka. Bhasha nie miała wiele czasu na świętowanie zdobycia korony najpiękniejszej, bo zaraz następnego dnia po koronacji rozpoczęła praktyki w szpitalu. Ale na udział w konkursie Miss World na pewno czas się znajdzie!
